Special Notice on BBB and Heat-Up St. Louis, Inc.
Our all-volunteer charities have certain non-compliance with BBB, because BBB refused to use NA (not-applicable). We've never refused to supply BBB with any "critical" information, they have requested. Certain data, we just don't have, or would not have. It just so happens for instance that we have operational expenses, but board members underwrite those costs. All operational and administrative costs are underwritten by the board of directors, and no funds from the general public or governmental agencies are used. 100% of all public donations go toward servicing the needy. We file our 990 annually with the IRS and it is posted on our home page. Otherwise, we have failed to date, to give certain data to BBB, because of the the uniqueness of our all-volunteer efforts. We practice sound and ethical judgment in operating our all-volunteer operations and we will continue to dialogue with BBB to get them to eventually recognize that "NA" should be an acceptable response to certain inquiries. It is for numerous other agencies. We're successful business and community leaders using our own funds to keep the needy, elderly and disabled warm and safe each winter.
